"Ghost Whisperers" are people who have the ability to communicate with ghosts, or Earth Bound Spirits. Some have the ability to open up the light in order to help the spirit cross over to the other side. Not all ghost whisperers can communicate with spirits on the other side. Many do not claim to be psychic.
